Australian artist, Gotye, has struck the right chord with his single, “Somebody That I Used To Know,” which features New Zealand’s Kimbra. This quirky tune tells both sides of the story of a relationship gone bad, and is making its way up the charts. It is the second single off of Gotye’s album, “Making Mirrors” which hit stores in the U.S. on January 31! The music video, which has been a huge viral hit, reflects the song with the unusual use of body paint. Check it out! I am also really excited to find out that Kimbra will be joining Gotye on his spring U.S. tour. See the list of tour dates to see if they are going to be playing near you! Los Angeles-based band Dot Hacker to release eponymous debut EP on February 21st, followed by first full-length album, Inhibition later in 2012. The music of Dot Hacker is architectural, built on a foundation of bold, manipulated tones and supported by lush eclectic textures and angular rhythm. The band’s enigmatic sound comes from the collaboration of friends and founding members, Josh Klinghoffer, Clint Walsh, Eric Gardner and Jonathan Hischke.  Before forming Dot Hacker in 2008, the four were already established musicians, recording and touring with an impressive list of respected artists including: Beck, Gnarls Barkley, PJ Harvey, Charlotte Gainsbourg, The Butthole Surfers and Broken Bells amongst many others.  Klinghoffer, the band’s lead vocalist, also currently plays guitar in The Red Hot Chili Peppers.  The band plans to play shows in 2012 to support the release of their debut album.  Dot Hacker EP track listing:1. It’s Music Monday! I’m totally digging Lana Del Rey at the moment, she reminds me of a gangster Nancy Sinatra. Her voice is very engaging and I like her serious but still playful lyrics. I just recently purchased her short E.P on iTunes and have to say that,” Off To The Races,” is my favorite. Do you guys have a favorite?

I mean Dr. Dre, Kaskade, La Roux, The Shins, Feist, David Guetta! It’s going to be an absolute blast;) If your anything like me, you get lost in all the excitement and forget to pack the majority of the essentials. Fear not!
