TGIF Everyone!!

Are your current music choices feeling played out? Well not worry because ThisSongIsSick.com is here to put a little remix on your favorite songs!

The blog site was started by Nick Guarino in hopes of broadening everyone’s music tastes beyond radio. He focuses a lot on hip hop and electronic music, but there’s a little bit of everything!

I browsed the site and found a song by up and coming rapper, Logic. The song is “The Spotlight” featuring Justice. It’s really fun, and just what I need to get me through LA traffic tonight!

This week: The Heavy

I know that you have all heard this song but maybe you never who the band was that was responsible for the little gem…so if not, I’d like to introduce you to The Heavy!

They are a great band who hail from England and got started in 2007. Keep your eye on these guys because their gritty garage sound will keep them going for a long time. They have catchy and slightly funky tunes that my friends and I are really digging.

Top of the morning to you!
I love Young The Giant. Don’t you? I also heard that their song was covered on Glee last night…how was it? I’ll have to check it out.

So, since I love this band, I wanted to make sure you all knew about their tour!! I included every date I could find on their website :)

Good Afternoon La Rockers!

I come with good news: Shows from The Moor, Dot Hacker, & The Knocks!

First, The Moor is on their 2nd week of a 4 week residency at the Dilletante Office Space in LA. This week’s show will take place on Friday, February 24th at 8pm, and the best part is that it’s FREE!

Second, Dot Hacker will play The Troubadour March 14th at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketfly, with advanced tickets for $12 and day of show tickets for $15, which isn’t too shabby if you ask me.

Last but not least, The Knocks will set out on a few dates of the Neon Gold Tour starting March 1st in NYC! They will also play this year’s Bamboozle Festival in NJ, as well as join a few dates with Two Door Cinema Club. The dates are as follow…

March 2 – Boston, MA

March 3 – Hartford, CT

March 6 – Washington, DC

Hey Hey Hey!

I know that I live in Los Angeles. However, there are so many great festivals around the country so I wanted to share with you some news!

Bamboozle, in Asbury Park NJ, has announced that Brand New and 23 other bands have been added to the lineup :)

So as if Skrillex, Blink, Bayside, The All American Rejects etc etc etc, weren’t enough, they go and do this!

Me and my bff are currently scouring the internet to get flights out there to be a part of this wildness. Wish us luck!

It’s back to reality on this Monday morning!

Hope you had a great weekend and are ready to tackle another week. You can do it :)

I was lucky enough to attend the premiere of this awesome music documentary called Re:Generation and I am telling you right now, go find the theatre nearest you to see the last screening on February 23rd!

The doc follows 5 DJs : Skrillex, Pretty Lights, DJ Premiere, Mark Ronson and The Crystal Method.
They are matched up with artists from different genres to create new songs & it is so cool to see people from different types of music create something together. It’s also awesome because you can go to the website and download the songs for free! Doesn’t get much better than that, my friends…

It’s the weekend!

Hope your Saturday has been wonderful!

Looking for something to do tomorrow that will fill your Sunday Funday quota?
Well I have an idea! Come out to Santa Anita Racetrack tomorrow and kick off Mardi Gras!

There will be a food truck festival in the infield and cajun music; plus, as always, live racing!

It should be a fun time! Hopefully I will see some of you out there :)

I wanted to share bands/musicians that I am digging and want to share with you all :)
Expect a lot of different genres of music because I am always looking for new people.

Fitz and the Tantrums

They may not be brand new on the scene but I have been listening to them since last summer and just can’t get enough of them. I was lucky to see them play at the Del Mar racetrack and they were fantastic! They have so much energy and win over crowds in one song.

Recently, they played on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and they killed it!
I posted their video for “Don’t Gotta Work It Out” which is my favorite song off their album “Pickin Up The Pieces”

I’m not sure about you, but here at the Viva offices, we love our nails to look cute. I’m currently sporting a watermelon-ish (yes, its a word I made up) shade of red.

I love that as spring approaches, new and fun polishes are popping up!

Which one of these do you like the most? I’m partial to the glittery pink one and I really like the Kardashian Kollection. Pollen could be a fun pedicure choice…

Hello!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone and also, happy new music Tuesday!!

This week we have new releases from the following artists

1. The Explorers Club – Grand Hotel; this group is based out of South Carolina and names the Beach Boys as a huge influence. If you like the old surf sound, definitely check them out. They were also featured on How I Met Your Mother (my favorite show)

2. Band of Skulls- Sweet Sour; I just recently downloaded one of their songs free from iTunes and listen to them quite frequently on SiriusXM’s AltNation. A cool band out of England, this is a follow up from their last full LP, Baby Darling Doll Face Honey

3. Eisley- Deep Space; Perhaps a blast from your high school past, the family band is back! Eisley is still making records and going strong after first forming in 1997. Maybe it’s true that the family that rocks together, stays together.

4. Amos Lee- As The Crow Flies; According to his website this is, “a six- song collection of previously unreleased material from the Mission Bell sessions” Amos, a singer-songwriter, is very soulful and folk sounding. I think this would be a great album to check out!

Hey La Rockers!

Happy Monday:)I hope you guys had a great weekend. Viva La Rock definitely had an eventful weekend with tons of fun Grammy parties. First stop was the Pepsi party that was held at the Carondelet in L.A. Next on the agenda was the OK! Magazine party held at Tru Hollywood, which was a crazy amount of fun! There were performances by Pia Toscano and Flo Rida. Flo Rida was my personal favorite of the night because he put on one heck of a performance, showing the crowed the reason why he is number one in the world right now. There were also plenty of Glee star sightings that made for an even more gleeful night;) The main celebration of the whole weekend was of course the 54th annual Grammy Awards. All I can say about the awards is ADELE, ADELE ADELE! She definitely did an amazing job and won every single category she was nominated for. Its safe to say that was no surprise! Adele’s performance and Jennifer Hudson tribute to Whitney Houston were my personal highlights. What were your favorite performances? Overall, I think its safe to say last night was Adele’s night and rightfully so!!

It’s finally Friday, and this weekend is an exciting one for music! On Sunday it is music’s biggest night…the 54th Grammy Awards!

This year performers include Adele, Chris Brown, Kelly Clarkson and Jason Aldean, Coldplay and Rihanna, Foo Fighters, Nicki Minaj, The Beach Boys with Foster the People and Maroon 5, Katy Perry, and even a dance/electronica segment with DeadMau5 and David Guetta, which I am personally excited for!

Not only do I love watching all of the performances, but checking out all the red carpet fashion is fun too. So grab some friends and tune in!

Show starts at 8/7c with host LL Cool J. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Happy Thursday Rockers! :)

With only a few days until Valentines Day, I wanted to share with you some concerts that will be in LA that day! I know that for some, Valentine’s is an extra lovey dovey day while, for others, couples in love make you have an extra eye roll or two on that day.

That in mind, I thought these were a few great concerts you could see with that special someone or your fellow singletons. Either way you have a great time!

First, Robin Thicke will be playing at Club Nokia. I will personally be there, pretending that he is singing to me and me alone (serious crush alert)

Next up, Colbie Caillat will be playing at the Fred Kavli Theater in Thousand Oaks.

Also, Ms. Lauryn Hill will be playing at the Palladium! Heads up, if you have Groupon for LA they sent an email for discounted tickets. Too bad I already have Robin tickets, otherwise I would’ve gone to this for sure!!

I hope this helps you find some last minute and fun plans. And remember, Valentines Day is to celebrate all of the people, pets, crushes, that you love! Have fun with it :)
